It is forbidden by the law to undergo resources development in sanctuaries, including some areas in Rason, Mundok and Ongjin and Sin Islet.

In this spring season, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection is taking necessary measures on protecting sanctuaries on the basis of the reports made by its experts after their on-site inspection.

In particular, it has made big efforts to protecting the Rason Migratory Bird Reserve listed by International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
