14th Kimilsungia Festival Opens
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The 14th Kimilsungia Festival was opened here with splendor in celebration of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

On display at its venue are more than 30,000 potted Kimilsungias presented by armed forces and power bodies, the Cabinet, ministries, national institutions, institutions of science, education, public health and the press and many other units, soldiers of the Korean People's Army, people from all walks of life, school youth and children, overseas compatriots, diplomatic missions and missions of international organizations here, foreign organizations for friendship and solidarity, foreigners and members of the associations for supporting propagation of the immortal flower.

An opening ceremony was held outside the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on Friday.

Attending the ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, officials of armed forces and power bodies, ministries, national institutions, service personnel, Pyongyang citizens and overseas compatriots.

Present there on invitation were the Indonesian government cultural delegation, Ahmed Tidjani Cisse, minister of Cultural Heritage of Guinea, and his party, Dewi Soekarno, honorary chairperson of the Association for Supporting the Propagation of Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia and a member of the International Kim Il Sung Prize Council, and other foreign guests.

Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee of the DPRK, said in his opening address that this festival would shine as a festival of flowers in praise of the great man as it will represent the warm sincerity of the Korean people and progressive mankind for him.

I Gusti Puta Laksaguna, head of the Indonesian government cultural delegation, in a congratulatory speech said Kimilsungia has become a symbol of the ever-lasting relations of friendship between Indonesia and the DPRK since President Sukarno presented this newly-bred flower to Kim Il Sung.
