Memorial Services for Kim Jong Il Held in Foreign Countries

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Events were held in Ecuador, Russia and Mongolia between Dec. 21 and 23 to mourn the demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

Present there were personages of different circles, members of organizations for the study of the Juche idea, the Songun idea and for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and masses in those countries.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

Speeches were made at the events.

Fernando Maldonado, member of the National Executive Committee of the Socialist Party-Ample Front of Ecuador, said Kim Jong Il was the great man recognized by the world and the greatest revolutionary in the present era.

Dmitri Kostenko, chairman of the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche idea, and Pavel Bilevski, scientific secretary of the association, praised Kim Jong Il as an example of a genuine popular leader and the sun of mankind.

A. Narangerel, director of Kim Jong Suk Kindergarten in Ulan Bator of Mongolia, spoke highly of the immortal feats performed by Kim Jong Il for the Korean revolution and global independence.

In the meantime, the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche idea set the period from Dec. 22 to 29 as a mourning period and decided to conduct multifarious activities praising his career and feats in memory of him.
