"Theory of Fine Arts"

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- October 16 marks the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's celebrated work "Theory of Fine Arts".

On this occasion, a section chief of the C.C., the Artists Union of Korea, Hwang Hyong Chol, told KCNA:

The work is an encyclopedia of theory on the Korean-style fine arts, which systematizes the fine arts idea, portrayal theory and creation method in an integrated way. Thereby it serves as guidelines to be taken steadfastly in creating art pieces in the present era.

Guided by the work, the Korean artists have created art works in line with the Juche-based literary and art idea.

Over the past 20 years, they have created many art pieces portraying three commanders of Mt. Paektu -- President Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

Through their creative activities, they have encouraged people to arm themselves with the Songun (military-first) idea of the Workers' Party of Korea, devotedly defend the leader and remain faithful to the Party's Songun leadership.

They have also created a new kind of fine arts, which is sand drawing accompanied by music.

All the Korean artists will, in the future, too, create many good art pieces representing the Korean army and people in their efforts for the building of a thriving nation and their worthwhile life, enriching the treasure house of Juche-oriented fine arts.
