Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article.

It says:

The resistance clearly proved that no outrageous dictator can ever arrest the just patriotic struggle of the people and that the traitors to the nation are bound to meet miserable end.

The south Korean people's just demand for independence, democracy and reunification does not come true by itself but can be realized only through vigorous struggle. This is the truth of the history the patriotic fighters of the October resistance gained at the cost of blood.

It is a burning shame on the nation that it has suffered from the pain of division and the resultant misfortune with its sovereignty and dignity encroached upon by foreign forces for more than 60 years even though it had lived in harmony as a homogeneous nation on one territory for 5,000 years.

Whoever truly loves the country should never turn away from the pain of division suffered by the nation but devote oneself to the practical struggle for reunification, not just paying lip-service to patriotism.

For all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad, genuine patriotism at present lies in absolutely supporting and defending the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and thoroughly implementing them.

The south Korean people from all circles are becoming increasingly vocal in actively supporting the inter-Korean declarations and demanding the authorities' withdrawal of the anti-reunification and confrontational policy, defying the evermore vicious crackdown upon the pro-reunification democratic forces by the conservative group.

This goes to prove that no fascist suppression can interrupt or check the just struggle of the south Korean people.
