Training Centre of Weightlifters
Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Tongrim County Juvenile Sports School in North Phyongan Province is famous in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for training up-and-coming weightlifters.

The school, with a nearly 60-year-long history, boasts of some world weightlifting stars.

Among them are Kim Myong Nam who won a gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championships held in November Juche 79 (1990), Ri Song Hui who was crowned with the titles of Labor Hero and People's Athlete after distinguishing herself at the 15th and 16th World Women's Weightlifting Championships and Pak Hyon Suk who took a gold medal at the 29th Olympiad.

Scores of its graduates set new records and bagged lots of medals at national weightlifting tournaments.

The achievements of the school are attributable to properly selecting reserves and guiding their training in a scientific way.

The school has directed a special attention to selecting those suitable for weightlifting in kinesthetic and physical aspects and providing them with basic techniques.

Videos of fine matches at local and international tournaments are also utilized in training the students.

The modernly-equipped school also sends some of its trainers to national universities and sports teams to learn advanced training methods and experience.

It has steadily improved the training and living conditions for the students.
