Meeting Held to Review History of Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- A 2010 national Fukuoka meeting took place in Japan on Sept. 18 to review the history of Koreans in Japan and observe the month of their human rights.

Present there were Pak Ku Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and concurrently chairman of its Rights and Welfare Committee, officials of Chongryon in different regions, Koreans in Japan and Japanese figures.

Speeches were made there.

Referring to the significance of the meeting, speakers stressed that the campaign for reviewing the history of Koreans in Japan and their human rights developed into a monthly one from a weekly one, thereby becoming a new important movement for making Japan redress the crimes it committed in the past and improving the DPRK-Japan relations.

Reports entitled "Why was Korea reduced to a colony on the day when it lost its sovereignty?" and "Now is the time to work for peace and friendship" were made by Kang Song Un, curator of the Library of Joson University, and Sumiko Shimizu, representative of the Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women.

The meeting adopted an appeal urging the Japanese government to immediately roll back its policy of discrimination against the Koreans in Japan and opt for normalizing the relations with the DPRK on the basis of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and a written request urging it to include the Korean schools in tuition-free program.
