Japan Urged to Redress Its Crimes of Sexual Slavery in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- 109 south Korean women of different circles issued a joint declaration demanding the settlement of the issue of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army on August 23 on the lapse of a century since the fabrication of the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" by the Japanese imperialists.

The declaration said that if Japan fails to settle the above-said issue this year, too, it will have to pass on the generations to come the shame of having failed to settle the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past even in a hundred years.

It noted that the world community has become increasingly assertive in urging the Japanese government to own a legal responsibility for the sexual slavery in the past and properly settle the issue.

It is deplorable to see the attitude of the Japanese government still evading its responsibility for the crimes, the declaration noted, adding that even the recent statement issued by the Japanese prime minister on the lapse of a century since the fabrication of the treaty did not mention the issue of sexual slavery.

It demanded that the Japanese government make an official apology and full reparation for the most hideous violation of rights of women in human history.
