Angling Contest Held
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- The 9th National Angling Contest was held on the River Taedong in Pyongyang on Thursday under the sponsorship of the Korean Association of Anglers.

According to Han Tong Man, secretary general of the association, some 60 anglers selected from all provinces participated in the contest.

Each contestant was allowed to use four sorts of angling tackles, including fishhook with a rod and a line and boulter.

The contest was watched by many spectators.

Pak Mun Sik, a 45-year-old member of the Association of Anglers in Taedonggang District, Pyongyang, finished first in the contest.

After the contest he told KCNA that he was very happy to win the contest.

The contest gives a glimpse of citizens' leisure activities and the natural environment of the river preserved well thanks to the government's environmental protection policy, he said, adding:

The good ecological environment of the river provides excellent conditions for freshwater fishes to multiply themselves.

An exhibition of angling devices was also held on the same day.
