National Meeting Commemorates Birth Anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik
Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture Thursday to commemorate the 115th birth anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter and an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea.

Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Ri Yong Mu and others and officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, working people in Pyongyang, overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front.

Yang Hyong Sop, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, in his report made at the meeting said that the whole life of Kim Hyong Jik was a great life of a genuine nationalist and patriot who dedicated his all to the independence of the country and the liberation of the nation and a brilliant life of a prominent revolutionary who performed undying feats to be recorded in the history of the nation spanning 5,000 years and the history of the national liberation movement in Korea.

He said that Kim Hyong Jik was a great pioneer who set forth the noble idea of "Jiwon" (aim high), instilling the faith in the independence of the country and the spirit of national independence and the indomitable fighting spirit into the Korean people and indicating a new way to be followed by the anti-Japanese national liberation movement.

Saying that the idea of "Jiwon", a revolutionary theory, served not only as the only guiding idea for the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea in those days but an ideological and moral pabulum putting spurs to the start of the revolutionary cause of Juche and its victorious advance as it reflected the undisputed trust in the strength of the people, the steadfast independent stand on achieving independence by their own efforts and the indomitable spirit of overcoming any trial and difficulty, the reporter stressed that therein lay the great historic exploits performed by Kim Hyong Jik.

The reporter recalled that Kim Hyong Jik formed the Korean National Association on March 23, 1917, thus providing the Korean people with a revolutionary organization capable of rallying all the anti-Japanese patriotic forces around it to give uniform guidance to the national liberation movement on a nation-wide scale and as a result the anti-Japanese national liberation movement could confidently advance thanks to the independent force of the nation.

Kim Hyong Jik was a great pioneer who made a switchover from the nationalist movement to the proletarian revolution, holding aloft the banner of proletarian revolution, and a revolutionary educator, an indomitable fighter and a true man who recorded the whole course of his revolutionary struggle with the warm love for the younger generation, staunch revolutionary spirit and noble virtues, the reporter noted, and continued:

President Kim Il Sung stood at the head of the revolution as an outstanding leader required by the times and craved for by the nation by going through the extraordinary course of growth as a revolutionary from his boyhood and this made it possible for the Korean people to enjoy the greatest fortune of holding the President in high esteem for the first time in the history spanning 5,000 years. This is the most distinguished feat performed by Kim Hyong Jik for the country and its people.

Noting that Kim Hyong Jik enabled the Korean people to be blessed with the illustrious leaders, the fortune which people of no other country could ever enjoy, the reporter emphasized that he bequeathed the idea of "Jiwon", three contingencies, the idea of recruiting comrades and two pistols to Kim Il Sung as a legacy and this precious revolutionary legacy serves as a noble revolutionary asset putting spurs to the start of the revolutionary cause of Juche and its victorious advance.

Kim Hyong Jik's noble idea of "Jiwon" has been steadfastly carried forward in the new era of the Juche-oriented revolution and the era of Songun with the old generation and century replaced by the new generation and century, the reporter said, calling on all the Korean people to bring as early as possible the day when they will be able to enjoy happiness in a reunified and thriving country.
