Protection of Country's Peace and Security Called for
Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Leading newspapers today editorially call for protecting the peace of the country and security of the nation under the uplifted banner of Songun, 59 years since the U.S. imperialists ignited a war of aggression against the DPRK.

Papers term the Korean war a brigandish and barbarous war of aggression provoked by the U.S. imperialists after their occupation of south Korea to turn the whole of Korea into their colony and establish the sphere of domination over Asia by using it as a springboard and the most horrible war of genocide and destruction in the history of world wars.

The historic victory won by the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War was the brilliant fruition of the Juche-based military idea and outstanding commandership art of President Kim Il Sung, the invincible and iron-willed commander and outstanding strategist, and the one of the unbreakable single-minded unity of the Korean people around the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader, according to the papers.

More than half a century has passed since the ceasefire of the war, but durable peace has not yet settled on this land and the danger of a war is increasing as the days go by, the papers note, calling for waging a dynamic drive for protecting peace from war and injecting fresh energy into the movement for national reunification, holding fast to Songun as a treasured sword for defending the nation and a banner of patriotism.

Songun not only provides a decisive guarantee for winning a victory in the showdown with the U.S. but serves as a powerful weapon to defend the country and socialism and achieve lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, they emphasize, and go on:

The DPRK will never dismantle its nuclear deterrent but further bolster it up no matter what others may say as long as the U.S. persists in its hostile policy toward the DPRK and moves for aggression.

If the U.S. and its followers ignite the second Korean war, oblivious of the lesson they drew from their bitter defeat in the 1950s, the army and people of the DPRK will wipe out the warmongers and achieve national reunification, the historical cherished desire of the Koreans, conclude the papers.
