Puppet Authorities' Encroachment upon Freedom of Expression Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The Joint Conference of Human Rights Organizations, the Society for the Human Rights Movement, the Progressive Network, the Solidarity of Cartoonists, the Writers Council and other civic and public organizations in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on June 22 denouncing the puppet authorities for encroaching upon the freedom of expression.

At the press conference the organizations deplored that the freedom of expression has been ruthlessly violated in all fabrics of society including the information communication and moviedom since the appearance of the Lee Myung Bak "government".

They accused the Lee "government" of having recently intensified the control over Internet and, at the same time, pushed forward the moves to enact all kinds of evil laws.

Recalling that the present regime forced the KBS to appoint its president and cracked down on the producers of "PDs" of MBC who laid bare the danger of the American beef infected with mad cow disease, etc. they declared that this was intended to put media under its control and build up public opinion in its favor.

Neither the freedom of expression nor secure life can be expected on this land as long as such gangsters as Lee Myung Bak who watches and suppresses people and throws them behind bars are allowed to stay in power, they charged.

They set the period of "cultural action for the freedom of expression" from June 23 to 27 and declared that they would conduct diverse activities critical of the moves of the authorities.
