Chollima Soaring High up to Sky
Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Chollima (winged horse) Statue is still shining along with the heroic features of the Korean people who are striving hard to open the gate to a great, prosperous and powerful nation though much water has flown under the bridge since it was constructed on Mansu Hill near Moran Hill, Pyongyang.

The statue is composed of bronze effigies of a worker with a letter of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in his raised hand and a peasant woman seated behind him with a sheaf of ripe rice in her arms, soaring sky-high on the horseback, and the white-grey granite pedestal.

The statue shows intensively the history of leap forward created by the Chollima riders after the Korean war.

Upholding President Kim Il Sung's far-reaching plan of building a rich and powerful country, they produced 120,000 tons of steel billets from a blooming mill with a rated capacity of 60,000 tons and 270,000 tons of pig irons from a furnace with an annual rated capacity of 190,000 tons and manufactured a lorry and a tractor in 30 to 40 days for the first time in the country.

They also laid the Haeju-Hasong railway line, more than 80 kilometers long, in 75 days and created a startling "Pyongyang Speed" by which a flat for one household was assembled within 14 minutes.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited Kangson, the cradle-land of Chollima movement, last year and kindled the torch of a new revolutionary upsurge, saying that the workers of Kangson who have supported the Party with steel whenever difficulties were raised should stand in the van of the new revolutionary upsurge, racing against the time at the speed of Chollima once again.

The WPK called upon the entire Party, the whole country and all the people to launch the 150-day campaign. In response to the call, the Korean people are exerting all their efforts to create a new norm and a new record in all sectors and all units.

The legendary Chollima of Korea is galloping sky-high again in the great Songun era.
