Candlelight Action for Judging Lee Myung Bak Launched
Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The "network of civic and public organizations for defending democracy and checking the suppression under the pretext of security" which groups the human rights, civic and public organizations of south Korea staged a candlelight action in Seoul on June 13 in protest against the suppression by police.

The participants accused the riot police hurled to crack down upon the "all-people meeting for inheriting the June resistance and winning back democracy" of dropping shields on the heads and necks of passers-by, firing tear gas at them while indiscriminately arresting and dragging protesters like animals on June 10.

They disclosed that the riot police made no scruple of suppressing even reporters covering news and a member of "the National Assembly" and used for crackdown even iron truncheons whose use is banned.

They charged that the recent police suppression of protesters cannot be construed otherwise than brutal murder.

There is nothing to change even if the chief of the Police Office is replaced and the representative of the "Grand National Party" is reshuffled, they declared.

They called upon the south Korean people to fight just as the resistance fighters did at that time if the Lee Myung Bak "government" brings back the days of the military fascist dictatorial rule.
