World Intellectual Property Day Observed
Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government will as ever increase its efforts to protect the intellectual property and develop it in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Minju Joson Sunday says this in a signed article dedicated to the "World Intellectual Property Day".

It continues:

The 35th General Assembly of WIPO held in 2000 set April 26 as the "World Intellectual Property Day." This day is marked with diverse events every year.

The organization set it as its main duty for this year to conduct the work for invention and creation in the environmental field including the issue of decreasing the emission of carbon dioxide.

The rapid development of the society resulting from the growth of the information industry and intellectual economy essentially requires the legal protection of human intellectual creations.

The DPRK, a member nation of the above-said organization, has the articles on the legal protection of copyright and the right to invention and patent right clearly stipulated in its Constitution. The contents of the intellectual property to be legally protected and the measures to prevent the infringement upon the intellectual property, etc. are clarified in detail in the laws and regulations of the DPRK on this basis.

The intellectual creations of all the working people are under strict legal protection thanks to the well-regulated system of protecting the intellectual property and they are fully displaying their creative ingenuity and artistic talents in the scientific pursuits and literary and art activities.
