Present there on invitation were Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, Kim Pyong Phal, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Kim Hyong Jun, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned.

The Palestinian ambassador in his speech extended sincere congratulations to Kim Jong Il on his reelection as chairman of the NDC of the DPRK according to the ardent desire and unanimous will of the Korean people.

He went on:

The friendly relations between the two countries provided by President Yasser Arafat and President Kim Il Sung are now growing stronger under the deep concern of Mahmoud Abbas and Kim Jong Il.

The Palestinian people support all the initiatives of the friendly DPRK in its efforts to force the U.S. troops to withdraw from south Korea and achieve the reunification of the country.

Choe Thae Bok in his speech noted that the Palestinian friends' joining the Korean people in commemorating the significant days in April encourages them in their dynamic general advance for building a thriving nation, highly proud of the DPRK's successful launch of the satellite Kwangmyongsong-2.

He said that it is the consistent stand of the government of the DPRK to steadily develop the traditional friendly ties between the DPRK and Palestine.

The Korean people will as ever invariably support the just cause of the Palestinian people to retake the usurped territory and national rights and found an independent and sovereign state with Kuds as its capital city, he stressed.
