S. Korean Media Unionists Starts General Strike
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- The Press Trade Union of south Korea began a general strike on Feb. 26, enraged at the action of the "Grand National Party" to railroad the evil bill on media through the puppet National Assembly at any cost.

The union declared that more than 80 institutions including the broadcasting services and newspaper offices across south Korea would suspend their work and begin a general strike in protest against the action taken by the GNP to bring up the "bill on media" for discussion at the Committee of Culture, Sports, Tourism, Broadcasting and Communications of the "National Assembly."

It expressed the determination to simultaneously conduct information activities and candlelight actions in different parts of south Korea to condemn the high-handed practices of the GNP timed to coincide with the above-said strike.

The MBC union held a ceremony of declaring the strike and launched an all-out boycotting of the program production.

Unions of SBS, CBS and Yonhap TV News also expressed their will to launch a campaign against the GNP's move to institute an evil law on media.
