Freedom of Expression Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations of different circles in south Korea made public a "2008 declaration on freedom of expression" in Seoul on December 9.

The declaration noted that freedom of expression is now being seriously violated under the Lee Myung Bak regime.

It charged that the "government" and the "Grand National Party" are working hard to gag the people by resorting to all sorts of tricks and artifice.

The "National Security Law" violating freedom of thinking still remains in south Korea and the number of prisoners is on the increase owing to the evil law, it pointed out.

The declaration expressed indignation at the deeds of the political power and the conservative forces in collusion with it which are violating the sound expression of will as "leftist".

Contending that freedom of expression should be ensured without any restraint, it expressed the resolution to carry on the struggle against the conservative ruling forces infringing on it.

It urged the authorities to abolish the NSL without any condition, repeal the laws restricting assembly and demonstration and ensure freedom of thinking, conscience, speech, the press and association.
