Kyongsong, Famous Ceramic Producing Center
Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province, in the northeastern area of Korea is a leading ceramic producing center. It has full conditions for ceramic production including good clay and feldspar.

Daily-use, electric, craft and other porcelains are produced in the area. Among them, the daily-use porcelains are popular at home and abroad for their high degree of white color, thinness, solidness and beauty.

The porcelain crafts which are made to suit the modern aesthetic sense by properly keeping alive the techniques of the world-famous Koryo celadon and white porcelains made in the period of the Ri Dynasty have been highly appreciated in foreign countries for their quality. Some of them were awarded gold medals at international commodity expositions.

The ceramic production of Kyongsong registered a splendid development under the care of President Kim Il Sung who visited the Kyongsong Ceramic Ware Factory on several occasions after the Korean war.

While providing field guidance to the factory in May Juche 97 (2008), General Secretary Kim Jong Il indicated in detail the direction and way for ceramic production from the issue of raising the quality of products to their color and form, which marked a turning-point for its future success.

There are in Kyongsong solid porcelain producing bases including the Kyongsong Ceramic Ware Factory and Saenggiryong Ceramic Factory and Kyongsong College of Ceramics, which fully guarantee the development of the nation's ceramic industry.

The ceramic production in the Kyongsong area, which manufactures daily-use porcelains including plate, bowl, cup and kettle, ceramic craftwork high in ideological and artistic value, various kinds of tile, sanitary ware and insulators with quality raw materials abundant there, is ever growing in quantity, quality and assortment.
