Withdrawal of Hostile Policy toward DPRK Demanded
Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and chairman of its Committee for Rights and Welfare, and representatives of the Department for International Relations and Reunification of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, the Union of Korean Teachers and School Clerks in Japan, the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon and the Tokyo Metropolitan Shinjuku Association of Korean Workers in Commerce in Japan went to the Cabinet Office of Japan on November 19 to demand Japan's withdrawal of its hostile policy toward the DPRK and the guarantee of life and rights of Koreans in Japan.

The representatives requested the office to convey to the Japanese prime minister a written request for lifting the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK, improving the bilateral relations on the basis of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, lifting the embargo on the ship "Mangyongbong-92", withdrawing the measure for restricting the reentry of Koreans in Japan and stopping search and politically motivated suppression of Chongryon and the above-said association of workers in commerce.

They denounced the Japanese authorities for having recently escalated the moves against the DPRK and the politically motivated suppression of Chongryon as evidenced by the extension of the unreasonable sanctions for the fourth time and search for several places including the above-mentioned association on the charge of "violation of the law on taxation".

Referring to the historic background against which the above-said association is conducting its activities, they held that the Japanese government should settle the issue of the DPRK-Japan relations through dialogue, not by one-sided way of suppression and to this end it should lift the inhumane embargo on the ship "Mangyongbong -92".

Then, Vice-Chairman Ko Tok U called a press conference at which he strongly demanded the Japanese authorities stop their politically motivated suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and immediately lift the sanctions against the DPRK.
