Case against Hanchongryon Censured in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- The Struggle Headquarters of the 16th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) made public an emergency statement on Oct. 29 in protest against the moves of the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors to fake up a case against the progressive camp including Hanchongryon under the pretext of "security."

The statement accused the security authorities of searching and confiscating e-mail of former officials of Hanchongryon and conducting call and investigation into them on absurd charges that Hanchongryon spearheaded the struggle to remove the statue of MacArthur and the protest against the U.S. president's trip to south Korea in 2005 at the "instruction of the north."

This action proved itself that the security authorities are going to employ such trite method as faking up "spying case" again, it said.

It charged that their mean behavior of hatching a plot is groundless deception aimed to term the past struggle a "riot staged by leftist pro-communist forces" by linking it with the north.

The Lee group is keen on "witch-hunting"-style suppression of Hanchongryon by invoking the "National Security Law" just as the past dictatorial regimes did going against the June 15 era of reunification, it noted, demanding the Lee "government" stop sheer fabrication of case, search and suppression of Hanchongryon and progressive camp and make apology before the times and people.
