Abolition of NSL Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Council of Youth Organizations called a press conference in Seoul on Sept. 30 at which it declared it would intensify the struggle for the abrogation of the "National Security Law".

A press release read out at the conference recalled that at the final trial held on Sept. 25 the judicial authorities defined the council as an "enemy-benefiting organization" and inflicted punishment on former Chairman Jon Sang Bong and other core members of the organization on charges of "violation" of the ill-famed NSL.

The recent trial clearly showed how the authorities have abused the NSL and how desperately they are working to destroy the civic and public organizations, it noted, and continued:

The council would bring a final appeal in the Supreme Court, refusing to accept the said labeling and punishment made at the trial and all its members would struggle to get the evil law abrogated.

Then, solidarity speeches were made at the rally by the secretary general of the Catholic Human Rights Committee, the permanent co-representative of the Solidarity for Progress and the executive chairman of the Youth and Student Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration.

Meanwhile, the defence counsel of the council made sure that the final appeal was accepted by the Supreme Court on Sept. 29.
