In his life the President performed lots of feats for accomplishing the human cause of independence. One of them is that he provided important guidelines to be held fast to in national cultural construction by those developing countries which achieved independence and started building a new society in the last century.

In March Juche 63 (1974), he met the then prime minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, who came to learn from the DPRK's experience in national cultural construction, and briefed him in detail on the successes achieved by the DPRK in the revolution and construction.

He stressed that flunkeyism may emerge if any nation's cultural and technical levels are inferior to other nations' and that the cultural infiltration of imperialism should be thoroughly rejected to develop the socialist national culture on a sound basis.

He also met leaders of developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America and personages of political and social circles, who visited the DPRK, and showed the path for building national culture.

In September 1983, he convened the first conference of ministers of education and culture of non-aligned and other developing countries in Pyongyang, taking into consideration the growing desire on a worldwide scale to learn from the DPRK's successes and experience in national cultural construction.

He met the participants in the conference and made a historic speech "The Non-aligned and Developing Countries Must Build National Cultures under the Banner of Independence and Sovereignty".

He also saw to it that the DPRK hosted the 6th Asian music forum and seminar in October 1983 and an international seminar on the role of modern literature in the struggle for independence, friendship and peace in September 1986.

The undying exploits performed by the President for national cultural construction in developing countries are shining along with the advance of the human cause of independence.
