Meeting of Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with Korean People Held
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- An enlarged meeting of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People took place on February 28 via video-conferencing.

Present there were co-chairpersons of the regional committee, the head of the Secretariat, the director of information and other members of the committee and personages of the organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and the Juche idea study organizations in Russia, Nepal, Myanmar, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, Turkiye, Bulgaria, Germany, the U.K., Sweden, Croatia and Peru.

The meeting discussed the organizational structure of the regional committee and the orientation of its activities.

Then followed speeches.

Madav Kumar Nepal, former prime minister of Nepal who is co-chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, said that to convey the noble and great personality of the prominent leaders of the DPRK as well as their undying exploits forever and introduce the reality of the great DPRK ushering in a new era of comprehensive development of socialism under the leadership of H.E. Kim Jong Un should be the primary task of the regional committee.

Raymond Ferguson, secretary general of the Australia-DPRK Association for Friendship and Culture who is head of the Secretariat of the Regional Committee, stressed the need for the Regional Committee to further intensify the anti-imperialist joint action and struggle in cooperation with organizations of various regions and progressive and peace-loving organizations of all countries.

Javed Ansari, chairperson of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee who is executive secretary of the Secretariat of the Regional Committee, said that the Regional Committee would stand in the van of the work to further develop the friendly relations between the DPRK people and the progressive peoples in the Asia-Pacific region, expressing belief that the regional committee would further strengthen into a regional organization extending solidarity to the just cause of the DPRK people.

The action program, adopted at the meeting, called for further developing the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK as required by the times and in keeping with the circumstances and conducting on a higher stage the activities for support to the DPRK people in their struggle to build a thriving nation and defend peace and security in the Korean peninsula and the region and the rest of the world.
