Fossil Bird "Paekthosae" Registered as Natural Monument in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- Fossil bird "Paekthosae" has been registered as a natural monument in the DPRK.

Natural monuments are increasing thanks to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for nature conservation.

The fossil bird unearthed by teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University is 130 million years old.

A skull, toe bones, eleven primary quills and barbules are well preserved.

Not a few fossil birds dating back to the Mesozoic age have been discovered in over 10 countries of the world, but it is the first time to get such a finely preserved fossil bird.

The "Paekthosae" fossil bird is of great academic value as it helps scientifically prove that Korea was the cradle of birds.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that the fossil bird discovered in the Paektho-dong area in Sinuiju City, North Phyongan Province was named "Paekthosae".
