Today the DPRK people are praising the immortal feats of Chairman Kim Jong Il who had consolidated the country as an invincible socialist fortress, through his long journey for Songun (military-first) leadership.

In the 1990s, the DPRK suffered a great national loss, the demise of President Kim Il Sung, and had to undergo stern trials due to the maneuvers of the hostile forces to stifle socialism and unprecedented economic hardships caused by them and natural disasters.

To tide over such crisis and defend the Republic, the real guarantee of the people's independent life, the Chairman made a ceaseless journey for Songun leadership.

Since his visit to the Dwarf Pine Post of the Korean People's Army on January 1, 1995, he had inspected more than 2,490 military units until 2011, the last period of his great life.

In the course of his long journey for the Songun revolutionary leadership, there were such rugged and dangerous roads and objects as Chol Pass, Mt Osong, rough sea toward Cho Islet and the military post at Panmunjom.

During his ceaseless military inspection for the defence of the country, he would take a short and uncomfortable sleep and have a simple rice-ball for meal on running jeep.

Thanks to his patriotic devotion for Songun leadership, the Korean-style socialism was defended and the DPRK emerged a military giant admired by the world.
