Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- In the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, President Kim Il Sung put forward the idea and theory on creating revolutionary and popular literature and art works conducive to the Korean revolution and personally created lots of immortal classics.

Among them is a revolutionary drama "The Sea of Blood", performed in August Juche 25 (1936) for the first time.

The drama discloses the massacres committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people and shows how the heroine was gradually awakened to come out in the revolutionary struggle. Through an ordinary peasant's family and the fate of the heroine, it gives profound answer to the question about what revolution is and how to conduct struggle by deeply generalizing the trend of the whole Korean revolution with the anti-Japanese armed struggle as the main and the essence of revolutionary struggle.

The drama tells the truth that where there is oppression, there will be resistance and the oppressed people can obtain their liberation and happy future only through armed struggle. It had greatly inspired the popular masses to the anti-Japanese struggle for its strong influence and appeal.

Under the guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the immortal classic "The Sea of Blood" was adapted to revolutionary film in 1969, to revolutionary opera in 1971 and to revolutionary novel in 1973.
