Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- An urgent meeting of Koreans in Japan was held in Tokyo demanding the application of the "program for free education and upbringing of children" for kindergartens of the Korean schools on Sep. 26.

Nam Sung U in his report said that the Japanese authorities' exclusion of the kindergartens of the Korean schools from the application of the "program for free education and upbringing of children" taking effect from Oct. 1 is an unprecedented racial discrimination and cruel violence against humanity.

He called on all Koreans in Japan to turn out as one in the struggle for smashing the cunning moves of the Japanese authorities to obliterate the national education of Koreans.

Then there was a report on the struggle of the delegates of the branches of the Liaison Society for Protecting Korean Kindergartens in various parts of Japan, who visited the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan in demand of inclusion of Korean kindergartens in the application of the said program.

At the meeting representatives of solidarity bodies of Japan made solidarity remarks and delegates from various circles of Chongryon made speeches.

The meeting formed a group urging the Japanese government to apply the program of "free infant education and child upbringing" to the Korean kindergartens and adopted a written demand. The participants watched a video on the struggle of Koreans in Japan demanding the application of such program.

The representative of the Liaison Society for Protecting Korean Kindergartens and the delegates from mothers held a press conference at the press club of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, where they pointed to the essence and injustice of the Japanese authorities' moves to stamp out the national education of Koreans and urged the authorities to take an immediate step for the application of the program to the Korean kindergartens.

That day, Koreans in Osaka held a rally and demonstration in demand of the application of the program to Korean kindergartens.
