Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- The Deaf Association of Korea (DAK) is intensifying its activities under the care of the state.

The DAK was organized in March Juche 103 (2014).

The association formally acceded to the World Federation of the Deaf last February and attended its 20th session, laying a firm foundation to promote the cooperation and exchange with the federation and national deaf associations of various countries.

The Korean Deaf Sports Association, too, became a full-fledge member of the APDSC this year.

Consequently, its football team will take part in the 9th Asia Pacific Deaf Games to be held in Hong Kong of China in late October.

The team, organized in May 2014, made its debut in the world sports arena of disabled persons in December that year and gained rich experience through friendly matches and joint training with deaf football teams of various countries.

The DAK also contributed to raising the social interest in the protection of the disabled by publishing a sign language dictionary.

And it produced sign language subtitle presentation.

In an interview with KCNA, Ri Chol, chairman of the Sign Language Interpreters Association of Korea, said that the association would conduct many-sided and wide-ranging exchange and cooperation with organizations related to the disabled and actively contribute to their health recovery and social activities.
