DPRK Players Prove Successful at 21st Taekwon-Do World Championships
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- DPRK players proved successful at the 21st Taekwon-Do World Championships held in Bulgaria from Aug. 25 to 30.

They won three trophies, four individual technical prizes, 34 gold medals, 16 silvers, 14 bronzes and took the first place in total standings of the championships which brought together more than 970 excellent Taekwon-Doists from at least 70 countries including the DPRK, China, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus and regions.

The championships were held, divided into senior, junior and veteran categories.

The DPRK players took part in senior and junior games.

They took the first place in senior men's and women's team pattern matches, women's team sparring matches, men's and women's self-defense matches and junior men's and women's team pattern matches, women's team sparring matches and women's self-defense matches.

Kim Hyon Ok bagged gold medals in senior women's individual pattern 2nd degree and 47 kg sparring match, Ham Su Gyong gold medals in senior women's individual pattern 1st degree and 72 kg sparring match, Kim Nam Su, Ha Kum Gwang, Wang Myong Guk and Rim Wi Sok gold medals in senior men's individual pattern 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st degrees, Kim Hyang Sim a gold medal in senior women's individual pattern 3rd degree, Kim Kum Jong and Pak Mi Hyang gold medals in senior women's 67 kg and above 77 kg individual sparring matches.

Ko Kum Gwang, Mun Jong Ryong and Kang Song took the first place in junior men's individual pattern 3rd, 2nd and 1st degrees, Kim Il Hyang, Choe Son Yong and Kim Ji Hong in junior women's individual pattern 3rd, 2nd and 1st degrees and Kim Hyon A in junior women's special technique competition.

Han Il Myong, Mun Jong Ryong, Kang Song and Rim To Song won gold medals in junior men's 51 kg, 57 kg, 63kg and 69kg individual sparring matches in the age category of 16-17 and Kim Ji Hong, Yun So Yong and Choe Son Yong in junior women's 40 kg, 46kg and above 70kg individual sparring matches.

Senior individual technical prizes went to Kim Nam Su and Ham Su Kyong and junior individual technical prizes to Mun Jong Ryong and Choe Son Yong.

The DPRK players returned home on Tuesday.
