The 60-meter high stone edifice has archways in the centre of the four sides on the ground floor and flat roofs on the first, second and third floors.

Immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and letters "1925" and "1945" carved in relief on the Arch of Triumph tell the precious feats of the President who set out on the road of revolution at the age of 13 and liberated Korea by leading the 20-year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory.

Mt Paektu, holy mountain of the revolution, depicted on the left and right walls of the first floor, reflects the Korean people's indomitable stamina to carry forward through generations the revolutionary tradition provided by the President and the revolutionary cause of Juche started in the thick forests of Mt Paektu.

Subsidiary theme sculptures in relief "Long Live General Kim Il Sung!" and "Long Live the Liberation of the Country!" and sculptures in relief "Looking Up to the General" and "For the Building of a New Country" clearly represent their revolutionary contents.

Carved around each archway are 70 azaleas symbolizing the 70th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The Arch of Triumph was built on the initiative and under the guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il and was unveiled on April 14, Juche 71 (1982).
