Preparatory Work for Preventing Damage by Flood and Rainstorm Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- A campaign for preventing damage by flood and rainstorm is under brisk way in the DPRK.

Hundreds of reservoirs and embankments, drainage canals with the total length of over 370 km and irrigation and drainage facilities have been overhauled and sea dykes covering more than 35 km reinforced.

Officials and agricultural workers in Jongju and Cholsan counties of North Phyongan Province have concentrated water pumps at rain puddles with enough spare parts.

In South Hwanghae Province, 90-odd dangerous defects have been eliminated on the basis of full grasp of the conditions of floodgates, emptying gates and watertight gates, thousands of water pumping facilities overhauled and drainage canal digging and sea dyke reinforcement carried out in many sections.

The same is true of South Phyongan, North Hwanghae, South Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces, Pyongyang and Nampho cities.
