Kangwon Province, surrounded by sea and mountains, is famous for special dishes made with edible herbs and marine products.

Typical of them is boiled rice with clam meat. This food is cooked with clam meat as well as glutinous rice, rice, pepper, ginger, cinnamon powder and leave of Ligularia fischeri.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un saw the boiled rice with clam from the East Sea of Korea and named it Wonsan boiled rice with clam meat.
