Union of Korean Writers and Artists in Japan Marks Its 60th Birthday
Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the Central Hall of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) in Tokyo on June 8 to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the Union of Korean Writers and Artists in Japan (UKWAJ).

Present there were Pae Jin Gu, vice-chairman and concurrently director general of the General Affairs Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Kim Song Hun, director of the Department for Publicity and Culture, Yun Chung Sin, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the UKWAJ, and other leading officials of organizations and affiliates of Chongryon, and Korean artistes and creators.

A congratulatory message from the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea was read out at the meeting.

Pae Jin Gu made a congratulatory speech.

He underscored the need to live up to the trust and expectations of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un by opening up a new heyday of the literature and art of Chongryon true to his policy speech.

He called for adopting a more unique approach towards the production of literary and art works dealing with the great personality of the Supreme Leader, the dynamic look of the homeland and the beautiful mental world of the compatriots.

Yun Chung Sin in a report underscored the need to usher in a new heyday of the literature and art of Chongryon so as to firmly preserve the national character of the Korean community in Japan and make a positive contribution to inspiring the compatriots to a patriotic campaign.

A letter to Kim Jong Un was read out at the meeting.

That day there were a film show, photo exhibition and reception in celebration of the anniversary.
