Giving priority to ideological work and developing the work in depth are essential for opening a new road of advance for the socialist construction by dint of self-reliance, the article says, and continues:

Self-reliance constitutes an immutable mode of advance of Juche Korea, treasured sword for prosperity and driving force for a leap forward, and our people have achieved praiseworthy victories in the whole course of socialist construction by giving full play to the revolutionary spirit and working spirit of self-reliance.

The ideological work is an important work to imbue the masses with the idea that they should carry on a revolution in their country by themselves with responsibility, and to bring their revolutionary and creative zeal into full play. Only when the popular masses are equipped with the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, can they carve out their own destiny in an independent and creative manner and successfully accomplish socialism. It is only when the political and ideological work is pushed ahead with that the strong national dignity to live not depending others and the steadfast spirit to independently and thoroughly solve all the issues arising in the revolution and construction can be displayed.
