Japan's Crime of Distorting English Name of Korea
Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- After illegally occupying Korea in the last century, the Japanese imperialists committed such extra-large crime as having distorted its English name.

Originally, the internationally recognized English name of Korea was Corea.

But the Japanese imperialists began to distort its English name as "Korea" from the end of the 19th century.

After divesting Korea of its sovereign right by cooking up the gangster-like "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" in 1905, they tried to cover up their sinister scheme with mixed using of "Corea" and "Korea".

It was evidenced by the fact that the Japanese imperialists had used "Corea" in English versions of agreements and memorandums concluded between Japan and the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910) until August 1909, though they began to use "Korea" in documents like official gazette of "Residency-General in Korea" from 1905.

They made frantic efforts to completely change "Corea" into "Korea" after the "annexation" of Korea.

Japan set up a "preparatory committee for annexation" in June 1910 and decided to mark the English name of Joson (Korea) with "Korea".

By putting the name of Korea next Japan in English alphabetical order, the Japanese imperialists schemed to make clear the subordinate relationship.

As seen above they had resorted to all sorts of dirty and vicious plots for turning Korea into their colony.

The Japanese imperialists ruthlessly trampled down on the Korean nation's dignity and sovereignty even by distorting its English name. This is a hideous crime unprecedented in human history.
