Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Sends Birthday Spread to Pro-reunification Patriotic Fighter
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Wednesday sent a birthday spread to former unconverted long-term prisoner Pak Wan Gyu, an indomitable pro-reunification patriotic fighter, on his 90th birthday.

Pak, born into a poor worker's family in Chongwon County of North Chungchong Province, lost his parents in his early years in the dark days of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea and was subject to all sorts of maltreatment and humiliation. He had yearned after the northern half of the Republic where a new life was in full bloom under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung after the liberation of the country.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, he joined the volunteers' corps when Seoul was liberated and bravely fought during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Later, he was arrested by the enemy while bravely fighting for national reunification. He lived up to the revolutionary faith in the face of all sorts of heavy penalties.

Chairman Kim Jong Il saw to it that he was repatriated to the Republic and awarded a watch bearing the august name of the President, the title of hero of the Republic, the National Reunification Prize and other state commendations.

Kim Jong Un invited him as delegate to the celebrations of the 100th birth anniversary of the President, the 4th National Conference of War Veterans, the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and other events. He has taken warm care of him, so that he can enjoy a life full of energy despite his advanced age.
