Prizes Conferred on Scientists and Technicians
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The 16th ceremony of awarding the February 16 Science and Technology Prize took place at the People's Palace of Culture Thursday.

Attending the ceremony were Pak Thae Song, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Im Chol Ung, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Chung Gil, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, and officials concerned.

Korean scientists and technicians made achievements to contribute to promoting the development of the up-to-the-minute industry and revitalizing the national economy.

Certificates and medals of February 16 Science and Technology Prize were conferred on more than 10 projects, and certificates of Scientific and Technological Innovation Prize on three projects.

Certificates of those prizes went to over 200 scientists, technicians, teachers and officials at Kim Il Sung University, the State Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Railways, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, etc.

At the ceremony, Yun Won Nam, ex-director of a research institute of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University; Pak Ji Min, vice-rector of IT College of Kim Chaek University of Technology; Yu Chol Jun, head of a department of Kim Il Sung University; Kim Nam Chol, section chief of Kim Il Sung University, and Pak Jun Il, section chief of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex; were chosen as the nation's best scientists and technicians in 2018.
