Abnormal Climatic Phenomenon Lingers in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- An abnormal climatic phenomenon, characterized by much less precipitation and high temperature, has persisted in the DPRK this winter.

According to data available, the average precipitation from December 4 last year to now is 3.6mm, lower than the average. It is the lowest figure since 1981.

Snow can never be seen in almost parts of the DPRK, expect some northern inland and northeast coastal areas. In particular, average precipitation in South Phyongan and Kangwon provinces is below 1mm.

The average atmospheric humidity in the period is 64 percent, the lowest ever since meteorological observation in the country.

The average temperature throughout the country from December 16 last year to January 26 is -5.7 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees higher than -7.3 degrees in the same period of last winter.

In this regard, a weather expert told KCNA that such abnormal climatic phenomenon is due to the sustained inflow of less cold and dry air by influence of high atmospheric pressure staying in middle and southern parts rather than cold continental anti-cyclone.
