Lifting of Sanctions against DPRK Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the People's Party of south Korea in a commentary on Jan. 2 said that the U.S. should lift sanctions against the north, according to south Korean internet paper Jaju Sibo.

The commentary urged the U.S. to keep the spirit of the June 12 Singapore Joint Statement in order to solve the issue of the Korean peninsula.

Accusing the U.S. of tightening sanctions against the north after the DPRK-US summit talks, the commentary branded the U.S. unilateral demand for denuclearization as the denial of the spirit of the June 12 Singapore Joint Statement.

If the U.S. truly wants the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, there is no reason for the US not to ease sanctions against the north, it said.

The U.S. had better get rid of its daydream that sanctions can lead up to the denuclearization, it stressed.
