"Sachol Chrysanthemum No. 2" Bred
Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Floriculture Institute under the Ministry of Urban Management in the DPRK bred "Sachol (perpetual) chrysanthemum No. 2."

Chrysanthemum blooms in autumn, but sachol chrysanthemum can be brought out in any season at greenhouse.

The newly-bred sachol chrysanthemum is a superior species of high quality and ornamental value with a strong resistance to aphides.

A research group of the institute has strived to breed a new species of flower with strong resistance to harmful insects by means of biological engineering. In the process, it succeeded in making an expression vector necessary for transforming a gene with strong poisonous influence over aphides into chrysanthemum and established the process of its transition.
