Winter Fishing Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Winter fishing is gaining momentum in the East Sea of Korea.

Hundreds of ships from the fishery stations in the east coastal area are making all efforts for fishing in waters off North Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces and Riwon-Sinchang and other main fishing grounds.

Water temperature transmission system based on satellite information, system for detecting fishing ground and a program for estimating hard-finned sandfish fishery have been introduced into fishery stations and fishing boats under the Ministry of Fisheries.

Now, fishery stations are catching hundreds of tons of fish on a daily average by increasing the operational rate of fishing boats to the maximum, raising the frequency of hauling in a net and making a big haul per ship.

Taking the lead in the winter fishing are the Sinpho Distant-Sea Fishery Complex and the Wonsan and Kimchaek fishery stations.

Factory ships process fish promptly, and fish are being handled at landing places in Soho, Wonsan, Thongchon and other areas in an intensive way.
