The DPRK permanent representative to the UN Office and international organizations in Geneva stressed this in his speech at the plenary session of the third Geneva disarmament conference on September 5.

Refering to the DPRK's successful ICBM-ready H-bomb test of great significance in boosting its national strength, he said:

No one has the right to fault the DPRK's test of H-bomb for ICBM conducted as part of the efforts to attain the final goal for completing the state nuclear force as it is a routine and indispensable process for the implementation of the strategic line that we have chosen for ourselves, the line of simultaneously developing the two fronts.

Instead of recognizing the DPRK's sovereignty and co-existence with it, the U.S. is driving the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a nuclear war while introducing huge armed forces to the peninsula and its vicinity and persistently staging military provocations for a preemptive nuclear strike on the DPRK.

The DPRK's every military measure is a legitimate exercise of the right to self-defense to cope with the U.S. and its vassal forces' heinous nuclear blackmail, threat and isolation moves that have been viciously perpetrated century after century.

The U.S. should not act rashly, properly seeing through the strategic position of the DPRK possessed of powerful nuclear deterrence, he said.
