New Streets Adding Beauty to Pyongyang
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- Ryomyong Street was recently completed in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, as a symbol of modern street architecture and a fairyland representing the era of the Workers' Party.

With the construction of Changjon Street as a historic prelude to the great drive for creation, Pyongyang has been further spruced up in recent years. There is hardly left a vestige of the Mansudae area in Changjon Street which was splendidly built as a peculiar Korean-style one in a year. During its construction, a new Pyongyang speed was created, ushering in a period of prosperity of Pyongyang.

Unha Scientists Street took its appearance on the outskirts of Pyongyang within only seven months, adding beauty to Pyongyang.

And the might of the great army-people unity worked such a miracle as completing the Wisong Scientists Residential District, which is much larger than Unha Scientists Street in dimensions, in less than one year to perfectly change the looks of the Unjong science area.

A new building tempo was created during the construction of Mirae Scientists Street. The construction of a 53-storied apartment house was finished in a shortest time. Now, there are a number of high-rise apartment buildings and over 150 public service amenities in the florid street.

The areas close to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and the Ryongnam Hill have turned into a land of bliss symbolic of the future of the DPRK with Ryomyong Street completed in a year.

Meanwhile, Pyongyang City carried out scores of projects, including the reconstruction of 2,000-meter-long promenades along the Taedong River and the pavement of myriads of square meters of bank-roads along the Pothong River, last year.

And a radical change has been brought about in its environmental protection through the reconstruction of the Phyongchon sewage treatment plant, building of a waste disposal factory, construction or repair of hundreds of settling ponds, dredging of rivers and other projects.
