S. Koreans Call for Erecting Statue of Korean Forcible Draftee
Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- The Unification Committee of the Seoul Headquarters of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and an organization of Seoul workers turned out in an action to erect a statue of forcible draftee indicting the Japanese imperialists' crimes on April 6, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Tongil News.

The statue was originally planned to be set up on March 1 but it was not realized due to the puppet authorities' suppression.

At a rally in Seoul the speakers pledged to erect the statue by August 15, stressing there is no reason not to set up the statue in south Korea as the one has already been erected in Japan.

The international community already acknowledged the crime of the forcible drafting of Koreans by Japan, they said, calling on the new "government" to nullify the "agreement" between south Korea and Japan and provide legal and institutional mechanism for probe into the truth behind the forcible drafting of Koreans and the abolition of the remnants of the pro-Japanese elements.

A declaration for sovereignty of workers read out there called for wresting apology and reparation for the atrocious crimes committed against forcibly drafted Koreans by the Japanese imperialists.
