Kim Hyong Jik University of Education in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Hyong Jik University of Education in the DPRK greeted the 70th anniversary of its birth.

It was founded under the deep care of President Kim Il Sung just after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.

The university had since developed into a reliable center for production of teachers, under the loving care of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, and made a big contribution to turning the country into a education powerhouse.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that the buildings Nos. 2 and 3 and a library of the university were built on a modern basis to suit the demands of the new century.

Over the past decades, the university has produced 14 winners of the Kim Il Sung Prize, 20-odd winners of the titles of DPRK Hero and Labor Hero, scores of People's Teacher Title holders and many other veteran educators, scientists, artistes, actors and actresses and athletes.

The university has also played a significant role in the work to improve the qualifications of teachers and make all the people well versed in science and technology by ensuring the service of data on education science and the tele-education on a nationwide scale.

Meanwhile, it made admirable achievements in working out textbooks, reference books and e-teaching programs and developing various kinds of computer programs on education.

In recent years alone, the university put more than 150 classrooms on a multi-functional basis and built a refectory and a swimming pool with a total floor space of thousands of square meters.

At present, the university strives to perfect its educational system and turn itself into a pedigree establishment of normal education, a centre for the study of educational science and a base for international academic exchange.
