The message extended sincere congratulations to Kim Jong Un on the day of liberation.

We remember with respect the soldiers of the Red Army and Korean patriots who devoted their lives to independence of Korea, the message said, and noted:

The glorious traditions of friendship and cooperation forged in the years of the war have become the reliable foundation for developing the relations between Russia and the DPRK.

The Russian president expressed belief that steadily boosting dialogue and profitable cooperation in the fields of economy, science and technology and humanitarian projects between Russia and the DPRK would be in line with the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries and contribute to ensuring peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the whole of Northeast Asia.

He wished Kim Jong Un good health and successes and all the people of the DPRK happiness and welfare.
