World Blood Donor Day Marked
Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- There took place an event to mark the World Blood Donor Day at the National Blood Center under the Ministry of Public Health of the DPRK on Tuesday.

Present there were officials in the field of public health, officials concerned, voluntary blood donors, the UN resident coordinator who is the UNDP resident in the DPRK, the acting representative of the WHO and members of the missions of international organizations in the DPRK, a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies working in the DPRK and staff members of foreign embassies here.

Speakers expressed thanks to the blood donors for donating precious blood before referring to the successes and experience gained in the field of blood transfusion.

They said observing World Blood Donor Day is aimed to fully supply safe blood and blood products by voluntary unpaid blood in all countries, calling for activating blood donation.

Certificates and souvenirs were handed over to voluntary blood donors at the event.

The participants looked round photos showing blood-donating activities before enjoying a performance given by the Central Art Squad for Agitation for Increased Production.

They went round the blood-gathering room and played sports and amusement games.

The Day was also observed in all provinces on the same day.
