70th Founding Anniversary of Minju Joson Observed
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson, the organ of the DPRK government, marked its 70th founding anniversary.

President Kim Il Sung established the paper on June 4, Juche 35 (1946) and named it Minju Joson, indicating principles to be adhered to in editing and publishing the newspaper in every period and at every stage of the developing revolution and the tasks to do so and wisely leading its journalists, editors and employees to successfully perform their revolutionary duty.

Leader Kim Jong Il developed the newspaper into a powerful media speaking for the stand of the DPRK government.

It has successfully carried out its duty by covering the proud road of victory under the loving care and guidance of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu for the past seven decades.

A meeting to mark the anniversary took place at the People's Palace of Culture Friday.

Present there were Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials, journalists, editors and employees of the newspaper.

A report was delivered at the meeting to be followed by speeches.
