Social Science Seminar Held to Observe Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Work
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- There took place a social science seminar at the Academy of Social Sciences on Thursday to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of President Kim Il Sung's work "On Correctly Preserving the National Characteristics of the Korean Language".

The seminar heard papers explaining the historic position and vitality of the work in the Juche-oriented development of the Korean language and the issues arising in improving the linguistic culture as required by the building of a highly civilized socialist nation.

The speakers said the President's work served as an important document which uniquely clarified the main orientation and ways of building the national language, the most important issue in settling the matter of national language in the era of independence.

Vocabulary rearrangement is a purposeful and conscious work of the popular masses to do away with unnecessary words of foreign origin left over by the old eras in all fields of language and linguistic culture, preserve the originality and achieve independent development of the national language, they noted.

They referred to the important requirement for learning from the popular style of writing of supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

They underlined the need to develop linguistic culture in the society in a more ennobling and civilized manner as required by the times when a highly civilized socialist nation is being built.

Present at the seminar were officials concerned, teachers and researchers in the fields of science and education and media persons.
